Nice to Meet You

Hi,

It is nice to meet you. I am not sure who ‘you’ are, necessarily, but I appreciate the time you have taken to come here.

I will admit, I have written, rewritten, and deleted fifteen versions of this post. I have written a structured version that tells you why you should read what I write and hook you in to return for more. I have written a vulnerable iteration, detailing my fear of failure and nervousness about creating an “online presence”. I have written other versions somewhere in between those points, but none of them feel quite right.

So, I think I will just tell you the plain, boring, simple truth: I miss writing, I miss the fearlessness with which I used to share my opinion (whether it was heard or not), and I believe starting and maintaining this blog will offer me an opportunity to be accountable to being a better person - both through posting and from receiving feedback from people who consume my content.

I won’t be committing to writing consistently, having a focused set of topics, speaking to a target demographic, or writing and creating a space without making mistakes along the way. I will be writing because I love to write, I have a lot to say, and I am immensely (and often detrimentally) opinionated. I will be creating this space because I want to challenge myself to create an online community of people who learn from one another. I want to move past my fears of rejection and failure and see that my time, energy, thoughts, and feelings matter to someone other than me.

I hope what I write will connect with you in some way - to spark a thought, action, or conversation. If nothing else, I will be here trying.

-S.
