About Me
My study of tarot began 20 years ago - it was an ordinary afternoon after school, and my grandpa (Pop) took me to the local library. At 13, and as a voracious reader, I was finally allowed to peruse the adult section of the library to expand my options. That day, I found myself in a section about religion and spirituality. I picked up a book about Tarot, flipped through it, and fell in love with the images and cards the book described. I took it home, read it cover to cover, and moved on to the next topic of my curiosity.
Two years later, on New Years Eve, my best friend’s mother did a tarot reading for me. I didn’t take it seriously, thinking of it as a fun card game to play around with. The next week, my friend and I went to Barnes and Noble, flush with gift cards, and I bought my first deck. I took it to school and began to read for classmates - amazed by the accuracy and clarity with which I came to understand my peers who I had not known in such a deep way before.
My belief in the tarot surrounding the insights and medicine it offered began to expand. A year later, my belief in the practice solidified - the prediction my friend’s mother had made that fateful New Year’s Eve came to pass in frightening detail and remains one of the most challenging and transformational experiences I have had in my life.
I continued to study and practice the tarot - and in my mid-twenties put the cards down - the readings for myself felt too accurate and challenging to tackle. When I picked the practice back up in my later twenties, I knew it would be with me to stay.
Tarot has been the portal through which I have come to understand myself, those around me, and the human experience across the mental, emotional, physical and metaphysical planes. Tarot has also been a portal through which I have learned to trust and expand upon my other intuitive gifts - claircognizance (intuitive knowing), clairaudience (hearing messages intuitively) alongside developing the confidence to pursue other spiritual practices - including witchcraft and obtaining my Reiki II certification.
For those into the woo - I am a 6|2 Splenic Projector in Human Design. Astrologically, I am a Gemini Rising, Aquarius Sun, and Aries Moon. My life path card in Tarot is The Empress.
About my Practice
What is your philosophy on the tarot?
To receive a tarot reading is to stare into a reflection pool - tarot reflects back to us the medicine of what we most need to see, hear, and understand about our human experience at a given moment in time. I believe that readings can show us gaps in our understanding, blind spots we need to be shown, and offer support to navigate some of life’s most treacherous and challenging waters.
I do not believe that tarot is a fortune telling or predictive tool, and instead believe it acts as a present moment reflection of what is most on our minds and hearts. I do not believe that there are good or bad cards in the deck - instead, each card has traits which can be more or less confronting given the person or the situation at hand.
How do you approach consent with Tarot readings?
I only provide readings to those who have requested the reading. In some cases, the cards may reveal an archetype or relationship in your life that we can explore; however, I will not do another reading about another person based on an individual’s request (example: “Can you tell me if my boyfriend really wants to marry me?”).
How would a reading flow with your practice?
I start each reading by looking to understand if someone has received a reading in the past, what their prior experience with tarot has been like, and how much the person would like to learn about tarot during their reading.
From there, I have the individual shuffle the cards until they feel ‘done’. From here, there are two options - the person seeking the reading can share an open ended question with me or an area of life that they are interested in exploring OR I can tune in and intuit what this person’s spirit guides would most like for them to know.
I then tune in and often hear a number (example: “five”) and then see an image in my head for how I am being prompted to lay out the cards. I then lay out the cards based on the image I saw in my mind’s eye and begin to interpret the cards. What tends to happen for me in this moment is that I will ‘hear’ a series of threads simultaneously - different messages coming through from different places, and different aspects of each of the cards jumping out to me. I take time to reflect and craft a story/message so that the person I am reading for can best understand the message the cards have to share.
Next, I will share the biggest takeaway I am noticing before reviewing the cards individually. I also am sure to summarize as we reach the end of the reading as there is so much information being shared in a short amount of time. It is important for me to feel like readings are a conversation - taking time to ask additional insight from the deck as needed for support, insight, and medicine.
I love nothing more than to follow up with someone after a reading and hear that the insight they gained in the reading helped them to navigate a moment in their life!
